I'm actually happy with it moving at speeds over 1C. So long as it's still a 100+ year-long journey.

I thought we were starting in space? Not fully crashed yet?

Yeah, wouldn't that allow us to have a full timeline instead of. "Yeah this happened"

This was meant to be read as if you were still on the home world. I apologize if I implied that it already crashed. The base idea was that there would be 3 years between last contact and now, meaning that anything could happen in those three years and it wouldn’t show up here. I also meant for it to be read where something happened during the deceleration phase and contact was lost. This is a rough draft, as I don’t know everything.

Oh okay that makes sense. I don't think Emily has pulled the lore together yet from the rough drafts

How's progress going @Sam Darkhon? Do you reckon you could write up a paragraph or two describing the ship that I could use for the crash site description?

Sure. Final impact will follow a glide slope, correct? (Am I writing a crash site where the ship fell or where the ship slides before coming to a stop?)

I'm thinking the ship will crash and skid into a very large lake, so parts will end up submerged. And, I just need a description of the ship. I can do the crash site itself.

I'm imagining something like Star-Trek Discovery crash where we manage not to get many killed, but this ship is well, less than flyable.

Copy that.

The Genesis is a sturdy Cryosleeper with a spin section for the unlikely event the gravity generator fails. The hanger is of a unique design, with entrances on the top and sides of the ship. The underside of the ship is coated in a black heat resistant material, with t front having a higher heat tolerance, to facilitate a gliding reentry. Towards the center, two grey “wings” serve as a combination aerofoil and bulk storage areas.as you approach the back from the spin section located just behind these wings, you encounter the Engineering section, dominated by the equipment required to run the ships engines and reactor, as well as the central computer core. Located in strategic spots around the hull, RCS thrusters offer fine maneuvering capability.

Good?

It's good. It'd be cool if you could add a paragraph describing the cryopods, the internals, and any rooms you reckon might have survived.

On the inside of the ship, the well armored cockpit is the primary room, designed to protect the occupants in the event of a crash, even if doing so would render the room inoperable. The cryopod rooms are also designed to survive, with each cryopod standing At 8 feet tall. Each pod has an independent power supply, as well as biometric monitoring software to ensure the occupant is kept healthy during their stasis journey. This equipment makes the pods somewhat bulky. The cargo bay is designed to resist crushing, instead snapping off when crashes occur. Each pod then actives a short range homing beacon to facilitate finding the cargo pods again. Finally, the engineering section around the reactor is heavily armored, as if the core breaches, the resulting fallout would kill any attempt at a colony.
